The dragon pickaxe was introduced with The Wilderness Rejuvenation on 13 March 2014. It requires 61 Mining use it and 60 attack to handle. It’s tied for the second most powerful and fastest pickaxe with the 3rd oldest pickaxe, second only to its crystal counterpart.
Dragon Pickaxe, the second-best of the bunch that will get us into the members section. You’ll need to have a mining skill of 61 to use this incredible pickaxe. It’s 5.88 percent more efficient over the Rune Pickaxe, which becomes quite noticeable when you’re competing with other players to mine the same ore.
The pickaxe also has a special ability – however you’ll need 60 Attack to use the pickaxe in order in order to use the ability(Rock Knocker). It temporarily boosts the mining level of your character by 3 and is able to mine ores you do not have the skill for.

Special attack
The special attack of the dragon pickaxe, Rock Knocker, temporarily increases the level of mining by 3 (players must possess 60 Attack to be able to use this special). This consumes 100% of the player’s special attack power. The boosted level from the special attack does enable players to mine rock above the current level of mining.
This can be useful as an instant boost in mining speedto finish an obligation to mine that you aren’t at the right amount of mining required or to mine a Crashed Star that is one tier higher than the current capabilities of your skills.
However, it is not advised to employ this method in to gain experience because the time between special attacks makes it more difficult than mining lower level ore. If used in conjunction with the Lightbearer ring the special attack energy is regenerated twice as fast, which makes it feasible to continually mine rocks 1-2 levels higher than the base.
So long as a person is able to use 60 Attack to wield the pickaxe, the unique attack is able to mine with the pickaxe beginning at level of 58. If the player’s actual Mining level falls below that level, then a different smaller, lower-tiered pickaxe needs to be carried in the inventory with which to actually mine.
Be aware that any level that is boosted over 99 using the special attack will be treated as 99. So, you’ll start seeing a decrease in returns when using the special attack once you reach levels at 97 and 98. This is due to having no benefit from using the special attack at levels 99.
Upgrades
Players can combine a smouldering stone with a dragon pickaxe to create an infernal pickaxe, requiring 85 Smithing (boosts not allowed) for this to be done. This is a process that cannot be reversed. The infernal pickaxe gives the player the possibility of disintegrating the ores to gain Smithing experience whilst mining. The infernal pickaxe is capable of breaking down 5,000 ores before degrading. It will need a smouldering stone or dragon pickaxe for charging. The effect is not able to be switched off.
Players can also build an emerald pickaxe using the singing bowl. This is done by mixing with a dragon pickaxe 120 crystal shards and crystal tool seeds. This requires at least level 76 of Smithing and Crafting, which can be boosted. If players cannot create the crystal on their own it is possible to have Conwenna and Reese play the crystal for them , for 60 crystal shards, for an total of 180.
In addition, players can apply a kit to upgrade their dragon pickaxe, Trailblazer tool ornament kit or Zalcano shard to make cosmetic improvements to their dragon pickaxes, creating an upgraded Dragon pickaxe (upgraded) (or), the Dragon Pickaxe (or) (Trailblazer) and a dragon pickaxe (or) or. This will only alter the appearance of the pickaxe and renders the pickaxe impossible to trade. The process can be reverted and the dragon-themed upgrade kit for the pickaxe won’t be retained , while you get the Trailblazer kit and shard will be.
