After five seasons in Buffalo, the Bills let Gilmore walk in free agency, and he landed with their division rival Patriots, where he broke out as one of the league’s best defensive players.Gilmore registered back-to-back First Team All-Pro seasons with New England in 2018 and 2019, earning Defensive Player of the Year in the latter. During his time in Buffalo, Gilmore wasn’t the lockdown corner he would eventually become, but it was clear the potential was there.He tallied 198 tackles, 62 pa s breakups, 14 interceptions and three forced fumbles over five seasons, earning a spot as a Pro Bowler for the first time in his career in 2016.After the 2016 season, the Bills let Gilmore walk in free agency, electing to spend their money on defensive backs like Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde, instead.Gilmore was scooped up in free agency by Buffalo’s AFC East division foe the Patriots.2017-2020: New England PatriotsThe Patriots raised eyebrows when they signed Gilmore to a Isaiah Joe Jersey five-year, $65 million contract with $31 million guaranteed in 2017.
